McAlester Regional Literacy Council

Do you know any adults in Pittsburg County who need help learning to read?

The McAlester Regional Literacy Council provides free one on one instruction. Students and tutors meet in the Library at a time convenient to both. There is never any cost to the student. We also offer English as a Second Language. For more information call (918) 421-4931.

The office is located in the McAlester Public Library.

Literacy Council Hours:

Monday 10am-1pm
Tuesday 10am-1pm
Wednesday 10am-1pm
Thursday 10am-1pm

There are also programs available to anyone who wants to be trained as a tutor. There is no cost for this training. Reading tutors have gained great personal satisfaction from helping others improve their quality of life. You only need one hour per week to volunteer.
